In this fast paced world we’re living in, you may wonder if it’s worth your time to hire a freelance content creator for your business and personal needs. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the information game and generating content in seconds, and so some might question if the era of the human writer is over. Thankfully (for me and<\/em> humanity), the answer is no.\u00a0<\/p>

While AI can be a great assistant, human writers are still very necessary. AI generated content should be proofread for errors and edited to ensure it does not sound too robotic or lack a human connection. AI content is also crafted for a more general audience; therefore, editing is necessary to ensure brand voice is clear. \u00a0<\/p>

An additional (and potentially more costly) risk with AI generated work is copyright infringement and registration. AI content can inadvertently commit copyright infringement by taking another author’s words and stating them as its own. Last week it was reported that The NY Times is suing OpenAI and Microsoft<\/a> for copyright infringement. It is imperative that AI be utilized as a helpful tool and not the primary content creator.<\/p>

Problems may also arise when attempting to copyright your work. The U.S. Copyright Office is currently reviewing AI generated content on a case by case basis. In a notice of inquiry, The U.S. Copyright Office published the following: “The AI Registration Guidance reiterated the principle that copyright protection in the United States requires human authorship.” (Federal Register \/ Vol. 88, No. 167<\/a>). The statement continues to say that the term “author” excludes non-humans. This does not mean that content generated with the assistance of AI will not succeed in obtaining copyright registration – it just indicates that issues could occur.\u00a0<\/p>
